I have a 2000 NB with the 1.8 turbo. I just did a compression test and have mixed emotions concerning the results. #1 - 165, #2 - 163, #3 - 163, and #4 - 130. . For a chipped car (MTM 1.0 bar in my case), the vacuum readings are pretty much the same, but the rest will be relatively higher (5-6 instead of 3, 8-10 instead of 5-6, 14-15 instead of 7-8, and peaks near 20 instead of 9).

You have really bad compression on 1 and 2, does look to be a ring issue but you really need to do a "leak down" test to know exacly what % you are loosing in each cylinder and if its leaking because of bent valves, bad valve seats or bad rings.
